"My son seemed free whilst engrossed in his performance" – participant’s parent
"The Saturday Citizens is a major event. Each week it is the highlight of his social life as he meets with like-minded young people. The most positive impact is that it has also allowed him to find his voice and realise that he is an important individual with an opinion" – parent

Saturday Citizens Summer Academy
Saturday Citizens Summer Academy was a week of making new friends, developing acting skills and creating a show to be performed on the final day! Summer Academy is aimed at 14-18 year olds with a learning disability, who love theatre.
At the end of our Summer Academy week, Saturday Citizens went to the National Festival of Youth Theatre 2019, run by Youth Theatre Arts Scotland. We travelled to the Ayr Gaiety Theatre by coach, took part in two fantastic workshops and enjoyed watching two thought-provoking plays, which we all had a lot to say about afterwards! We enjoyed meeting and working with other young people as excited about making theatre as we are, and we look forward to returning to NFTY in 2021. Thanks, YTAS!
