On Common Ground
First Nation storytellers from Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, Manitoulin Island, Canada will create an outdoor performance with 150 community performers. A major participatory event by Debajehmujig Storytellers and the Citizens Theatre performed as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.
Audiences will gather together at the Citizens to discover more about the culture, art and traditions of Wikwemikong and the bonds we share. As twilight begins to fall, a procession will take place from the theatre through the Gorbals to the Rose Garden, taking in scenes of life in Glasgow and on Manitoulin Island along the way. There, music, song, live theatre and spectacle will come together to tell a story of community, family, and the natural world.
