Off The Page Spring 2021 (Morning session)
Fancy reading a great play in the company of others from the comfort of your own home? If so, grab a coffee and join us on Wednesday mornings on Zoom as we read, explore and discuss Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
No advance reading is required – enjoy finding out what happens each week!
These sociable online sessions are a digital alternative to our normal weekly play-reading workshops and are aimed at older adults.
The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh
Set in the mountains of Connemara, County Galway, The Beauty Queen of Leenan tells the darkly comic tale Maureen Folan, a plain, lonely woman in her early forties, and Mag, her manipulative ageing mother, whose interference in Maureen's first and possibly final chance of a loving relationship sets in motion a train of events leading towards the play's terrifying denouement.
Please buy a copy of the play in advance of the first session. You can purchase it from a range of online stores including Foyles, Waterstones and Amazon.
What will I need?
To access the sessions all you need is a smartphone, tablet or laptop and an application called Zoom which you can download for free. Don’t worry if you’ve not used Zoom before, we have a step-by-step guide and we are very happy to talk you through it.
How do I sign up?
Just click the book now button! There are a limited number of places so advance booking is recommended. Your booking will require an email address. We will use that email address to get in touch before the start date with more information and instructions on how to access the weekly sessions.
