Dragon - Relaxed Performance

Dragon - Relaxed Performance

Since the death of his mother, Tommy's life has gone from bad to worse. One restless night Tommy goes to the window and throws back the curtain to find himself face to face with a dragon.

Dragon was awarded Best Show for Children and Young People at UK Theatre Awards 2014 and appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2015.

With the advice of the National Autistic Society this performance will be a supportive, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for all the family. Please note:

• The age-recommendation for this production is 9yrs+ but the show is aimed at children, teenagers, adults and their families. • The performance takes place in the on Main Stage at the Citizens Theatre – a traditional theatre auditorium. • You can download a Visual Story of the relaxed performance • Audience members will be able to access the auditorium area before the show begins. • At 2pm there will be a pre-show presentation. This will be a chance for families to see the scenery, meet the actors and the puppets, hear more about the production and for our team to answer any questions you might have. • This pre-show presentation should last approximately 10 minutes and the relaxed performance will begin straight after. • Seating is reserved, however there will be free seats in the auditorium that audience members can move to if they wish. • The show is 75 minutes straight through and there is no interval. • You are free to leave the auditorium at any time. • If you need to leave the performance we will provide a quiet room. • The Citizens theatre is fully accessible with cafe, toilets and plenty of parking. • There will be staff and National Autistic Society volunteers available to assist you.

The production features no words, the story is told visually using puppetry, illusion and music. We will be making alterations to the lighting and sound for the increased enjoyment of those audience members with sensory sensitivities. The production focuses primarily on Tommy’s day-to-day life after the death of his mother and then subsequently with the magical bond he shares with the Dragon. We would suggest this play is most suitable for those who will enjoy a narrative-driven performance.
