Karen Dunbar's Spoken Word Club
Some of our Saturday Citizens recently took part in a series of workshops led by the well-known comedian and actor Karen Dunbar. The group had a great time exploring different styles of spoken word – including rap and grime and beat poetry, writing their own lyrics and learning how to perform with attitude!
Saturday Citizens: Summer Academy At Home
Saturday Citizens had a brilliant time taking part in the Citizens Summer Academy at Home project in July. The group met live on Zoom every afternoon to make and share creative work. We focused on the play Don't Start Me which explored the story of young school pupil Craig, who ends up getting into (and out of) big trouble, led by his big cousin Johnny.
This was a great way to explore issues including friendship, family relationships, risk-taking, good and bad life choices and best ways to stand up for what you believe in.
