Take Part

Community Collective

The Community Collective is a sociable drop-in group for people who share an interest in theatre.

The group meet on Fridays, 1pm-3pm and use drama exercises and improvisation in imaginative ways to create theatre and have fun. The Community Collective have performed on the main stage of the Citizens Theatre, at international festivals and in the heart of the Gorbals.

Our drop-in sessions will return for autumn on Friday 26 August. If you are interested in taking part please contact Neil Packham, Community Drama Director neil@citz.co.uk. No experience is necessary but please bring your sense of adventure!

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Community Collective met via Zoom which was a lifeline for many members. They celebrated birthdays, wrote raps, explored the fairy-tale world of Covid (where Cinderella constantly sanitises, the ball is cancelled and Little Red Riding Hood isn’t allowed to visit her granny) and filmed Christmas songs. As well as online activities they enjoyed taking part in the doorstep challenge series – creating live performances through windows and doorways. Read our blog to discover more about how the group has stayed connected.

The Community Collective are performing a collection of theatrical sketches in their own pop-up theatre, out and about at the Big Gorbals Fair on Saturday 25 June. Find out more on New Gorbals Housing Association Communities Twitter
