Take Part

In response to Covid-19 restrictions, the Citizens Learning team has adapted creatively. We continue to reach out to our Gorbals neighbours and extended family of participants across the city, particularly those who feel isolated at this time. See our full statement on Coronavirus.

Classes and regular groups

Classes and regular groups

It’s not possible to run our regular face-to-face classes just now, but we continue to run several projects online. Groups meeting virtually include Saturday Citizens, Friday Club, and Off The Page.

Young Co. continue to meet online and are creating a series of short films exploring how lockdown restrictions are affecting young people’s lives and mental health in their new project, New Shoots.

Karen Dunbar’s Spoken Word Club was another opportunity for our extended family of participants to come together online through a series of workshops.

We look forward to in-person classes returning when government guidelines allow, including Nightschool and our Drama Classes for Young People.

In the community

In the community

Remaining connected to our communities has been a vital part of our work since the pandemic hit. The Learning Team continue to catch up with groups online, as well as making socially distant visits to individuals that are digitally excluded.

New projects and groups have also been developed in direct response to Covid-19 restrictions. Off The Page and In The Gorbals offers sociable online sessions for those living in the local community of the theatre and Through My Window uses creative activities to support women experiencing isolation. Most recently, we created an uplifting lockdown anthem called Just Imagine…

Education

Education

To support drama teachers under current Covid restrictions, our new pilot project of live workshops on Zoom offers teachers a practical insight into directing to develop tools to use immediately in the classroom.

We also have range of free educational resource packs, blogs and interviews created for teachers. You can also find out more about our educational projects, including how to watch The Macbeths from your school.
