Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we have continued to run our participatory programme online and have gradually returned to in-person sessions where possible. This will be indicated within the information on each group. Some activities won’t return until the redeveloped Citizens Theatre building opens.

Classes and regular groups
We are gradually returning to face-to-face classes where possible, and continue to run several projects online.
This spring, our talented young theatre-makers brought two exciting projects to the stage: Press 2 For Help by the Citizens Young Co. and The Dodo Experiment from the WAC Ensemble.
Our full programme of regular classes for children and adults will resume with the re-opening of the Citizens Theatre.

In the community
Remaining connected to our communities has been a vital part of our work since the pandemic hit. The Learning Team continue to catch up with groups online, as well as making socially distant visits to individuals that are digitally excluded.
New projects and groups were developed in direct response to Covid-19 restrictions. Off The Page and In The Gorbals offered sociable online sessions for those living in the local community of the theatre and Through My Window uses creative activities to support women experiencing isolation. Most recently, we created an uplifting lockdown anthem called Just Imagine…

Education
To support drama teachers under current Covid restrictions, we launched a new pilot project of live workshops on Zoom offering teachers a practical insight into directing to develop tools to use immediately in the classroom.
We also have range of free educational resource packs, blogs and interviews created for teachers. You can also find out more about our educational projects, including how to watch The Macbeths from your school.

Support our work
At the Citizens Theatre, we believe that theatre and drama have the potential to transform people’s lives. As a registered Scottish charity we depend on donations, this is all the more important as we feel the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. Donate now.
