Join Our Board

  • Do you want to play your part in shaping the future of one of Scotland’s leading producing theatres?
  • Do you have a passion for theatre and the performing arts, and believe that it should be accessible to all?
  • Could your skills and experience help us to affirm our role as a cultural and community hub for the Gorbals and the city of Glasgow?

As an organisation committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, we know that a Board which reflects our audiences and the communities we collaborate with is key to our future success. We want our organisation at every level, to represent the multiplicity of perspectives and experiences present in Scotland today.

Who we are looking for

As we work towards the re-opening of our theatre building following a major redevelopment project, the Board will be working on an open recruitment process as it steers the organisation into its next exciting chapter. This strategy will see multiple opportunities arise for new Board membership over the next five years. While we are not currently looking for specific roles, if you have a long-term interest, our Chair, April Chamberlain would be delighted to talk to you. Please drop her an email:

What’s involved

The Citizens Board meets four times a year. You will be expected to read papers prior to board meetings and contribute to the discussion and decision-making at each meeting. You may be asked to commit additional time to support sub-committees and the Development staff team. Attending productions and events is of course a very enjoyable responsibility of every Board member.

Being a trustee carries certain statutory responsibilities. New Board members will be provided with a thorough induction to ensure familiarity with these, as well as offering insights into board processes, and the overall operations of the organisation.

We have put together a Board Member Information pack to give additional background information on the company and what's expected in the role. Find out more about our current Board members

Applications would be shortlisted by our Board Recruitment sub-committee and potential members invited to an interview. Candidates who are offered a Trustee role will have an opportunity to observe a Board Meeting before making their commitment. Where required, relevant training will be offered to new members, in addition to Board induction.
