BLUE HEN MEDIA RELEASE

Starring Charles Lawson - Jim McDonald from ITV’s Coronation Street

Two redundant men. A blue hen. Twenty bloodthirsty chickens. One grave robber and a psychopathic drug dealer.

After their phenomenally successful production Singing I’m No a Billy, He’s a Tim, NLP Theatre have once again teamed up with Des Dillon to present the hilarious new comedy Blue Hen.

Blue Hen will star Coronation Street favourite Charles Lawson, alongside Scott Kyle and James McAnerney, in this gritty moving story about two unemployed men living on the roughest scheme in Coatbridge and trying to get thought the recession by breading chicken in their back garden.

Charles Lawson has played the role of Jim McDonald since 1990, the most recent spell in late 2007 and early 2008.  He most recently appeared on the Scottish stage in the Citizens Theatre’s production of Educating Rita to great acclaim.

Scott Kyle’s previous theatre appearances include Singing I’m No a Billy, He’s a Tim and Passing Places for NLP, as well as films Pondlife and The Crews.  James McAnerney’s numerous credits include Snow White and When the Moon Sails Out at Cumbernauld Theatre, Celts in Seville and a role in River City.

Previous NLP shows have been described by The Guardian as ‘reaching the parts that other theatre can’t reach’, as well as ‘one of the shortest and most gripping two-hour shows in current Scottish theatre’ by The Scotsman.

No Limit People Theatre Company was set up in 2005 by Scott Kyle, whose intention was to make a positive contribution to the arts industry in Scotland. NLP Theatre aims to produce work that will entertain and entice new audiences along to the theatre, increasing the amount of people attending theatre throughout Scotland.
