Redevelopment: A new audience experience

The transformation will be felt throughout the redeveloped theatre. From the moment you arrive at our front door, the space will be transformed into a bigger and brighter social hub.

A new welcome

The new foyer space will highlight the beautiful blond sandstone of the original historic building. It will provide a welcoming environment before audiences enter the main theatre, new studio theatre, as well as our community and participation spaces. The dress circle foyer will benefit from new skylights, making the space bright and welcoming.

Our new bar will be the perfect spot for catching up with friends, enjoying a drink and a meeting place for the community.

New facilities

The theatre will include better ventilation, parking spaces and more toilets. Our new air handling system will address past issues with heating and ventilation, the main auditorium will now be ventilated with fresh air sources.

Our historic auditorium

The historic auditorium will have improved access and sightlines. We are also increasing the capacity by remodelling the upper gallery.

Audiences and artists, participants and community groups, first timers and longstanding friends – we want everyone to feel welcome and enriched by their experience of the redeveloped theatre.
