Yellow Moon - Autumn 2012

Citizens Theatre

This Autumn, the National Theatre of Scotland re-mount the Citizens Theatre productions of two smash hit plays by David Greig - a modern Bonnie and Clyde tale about two teenagers on the run Yellow Moon and the wildly imaginative musical comedy The Monster in the Hall.

Silent Leila is an introverted girl who has a passion for celebrity magazines. Stag Lee Macalinden is the deadest of dead end kids in a dead end town. They never meant to get mixed up in a murder…but now they need a place to hide.

The play follows Leila and Lee on their rollercoaster quest to find out who they really are. Yellow Moon explores what it means to live in a celebrity-obsessed world and what it is that defines who you are when you’re 17 years old.

When it first premiered, Yellow Moon was hailed by The Times as “one of the best new plays of the year”, the show sold out an entire run at the Edinburgh Festival in 2007, receiving the Award for Best Show for Children and Young People (TMA UK). In 2008 it toured the UK and travelled to New York to feature in the Brits off Broadway Festival, and in 2009 toured in Scotland, Germany and The Netherlands.
