Somewhere New: Avoidable Climbing

Somewhere New: Avoidable Climbing

We are living in familiar territory – a period that history books will say lead up to something frightening. We are ignoring facts – letting charisma and empty promises cloud our judgement. We are just like lots of countries before us. We are allowing an Alternative Right perspective - Farage, Le Pen, Trump Should we be going Left, or is a new direction needed? Following the performance, a playlet from Fear And Misery of The Third Reich by Bertolt Brecht will be delivered.

  • SOMEWHERE NEW
The Citizens Theatre is partnering with the festival to give an award to a Scottish artist to present a new piece of work in the venue’s Circle Studio. T Somewhere New is a brand new award for contemporary theatre and performance makers from Take Me Somewhere and the Citizens Theatre. The award provides an opportunity for a Scottish artist to develop and present a new theatre/performance project at the Citizens Theatre as part of the Take Me Somewhere festival. True to the Citizens’ ethos, the award was made to a project which offers a radical and experimental reinterpretation of a classic, celebrated or known text. Take Me Somewhere is a new festival of contemporary performance taking place in venues across Glasgow from 22 Feb - 11 Mar and builds on the legacy of The Arches venue which closed in 2015.
