Double Bill: Adam & Eve

National Theatre of Scotland presents two new groundbreaking productions exploring extraordinary lives in transition.

Adam, by Frances Poet and Cora Bissett (Glasgow Girls), is the remarkable, true story of a young trans man and his fight across borders and genders to find a place to call home. Featuring a 120-strong virtual choir of trans individuals from across the globe. 

In Eve, legendary playwright, performer, father and grandmother Jo Clifford tells the story of a child raised as a boy, when she knew all along that was wrong. What does that do to our understanding of what it is to be human in times of revolutionary change?

We’re inviting trans and non-binary individuals aged 16+ to take part in twice-weekly workshops from Tue 8 Aug – Tue 12 Sep to create a newly-devised piece to be performed in our Circle Studio before the performance of Adam on Wed 13 Sep and Eve on Thur 14 Sep. Adam World Choir The National Theatre of Scotland is inviting trans and non-binary individuals around the world to connect and form a global digital community – The Adam World Choir. The Choir will bring voices from an often silenced community to sing together as part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Adam. Whatever your singing experience, there’s a place for you in The Adam World Choir. As a choir member, all you will need to do is submit a video of yourself singing the Adam score. You can film it in your own room, in your own time and with our help. Everyone’s submissions will then be mixed together and projected onto the stage as a stunning video choir. As well as singing in the production, choir members are also invited to take part in and create other exciting events throughout the year. Come and join The Adam World Choir, and together we’ll make this a loud and fierce celebration of trans voices.
