Blue Hen

Visiting Company

ARCHIVE

NLP Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Des Dillon’s dark comedy Blue Hen. Starring Charlie Lawson (Coronation Street’s Jim McDonald), returning to the Citizens after success in Educating Rita.

Two redundant men. A blue hen. Twelve bloodthirsty chickens. One grave robber and a psychopathic drug dealer. Can Paddy and John use their working class wits to get through this one intact? Or will the roughest scheme in Coatbridge strip them of their dignity, their dreams, and their lives?

Blue Hen is a gritty, moving story about two ordinary guys who are out of work, out of patience and out of luck when they hit on a scheme to keep themselves occupied and their bellies full. They’re going to rear chickens out the back green.

From NLP, the company that brought you the hugely successful Singin’ I’m No A Billy He’s A Tim.

Having went to see NLP's production of Singing I'm No A Billy He's A Tim on the main stage of the Citizen's Theatre in October and having fallen in love with Des Dillon's penmanship and NLP theatre's believable and humorous portrayal of both the divides, it is fair to say I am waiting with baited breath for there next production. I am more than positive this production of Blue Hen will be just as good a hit and another sell out for NLP. Keep up the good work guys!

Can't wait to see Blue Hen. I went to see Billy and Tim last year and really enjoyed my night at the theatre. I went to see ten shows last year at Various Theatres in Glasgow and Billy and Tim and Sub Rosa where the only shows that held my attention. I thought Billy and Tim was an outstanding piece of theatre and I particulary enjoyed Scott Kyle's energy packed performance as Billy I thought he had great comic timing and amazing stage presence. I will be booking my tickets for all of NLP's Shows this year as I know there will be no chance of me falling asleep during any of their shows.

"Billy and Tim" was a fantastic and daring performance that brought the current and important issue of sectarianism to the forefront of the audiences mind. NLP are a fantastic theatre who pull in many audience memebers who untill watching this productions were theatre virgins. if "Billy and Tim" is anything to go by then Blue hen is a show not to be missed

I attended NLPs last production of SINGIN IM NO A BILLY HES A TIM, attending the Citizens Theatre for the first time. The Billy & Tim play was the best night out that I`ve had for years, and since attending the show I have been keeping an eye out for other shows that would be as entertaining. BLUE HEN looks like it will be another great night out and I`m really looking forward to seeing the companys follow up to SINGIN IM NO A BILLY HES A TIM Cant wait Joyce
