Scottish Ballet and Citizens Learning are running a week-long dance and drama residency for 6-8 year olds during the summer holidays. The participants will explore themes from Hansel & Gretel as well as outdoor activities that will culminate in an outdoor performance at the Hidden Gardens, Tramway.

Throughout November and December, in the lead up to this year’s Christmas Show, Sleeping Beauty; we will be working in local Gorbals Primary Schools to use drama to enhance the pupils’ visit to the Citz to see the show.

Citizens Learning has long been delivering our successful storytelling/story-acting project Dragonfly for pre-5 and lower primary children. We have piloted this initiative in two Glasgow City Council Nurture Groups with children who have been identified as having emotional or/and behavioural difficulties.
Following success in Glasgow, we are working with South Lanarkshire Culture and Leisure on a re-mounting of the musical stage version of Theresa Breslin’s book about racism and sectarianism. Funded by the Scottish government.

We are working in partnership with the Gorbals Youth Café to run a week’s summer project, based at the Citizens Theatre.
Working in partnership with Scottish Ballet, we delivered dance, drama and storytelling workshops for Glasgow primary schools - based around the hugely popular book “Giraffes Can’t Dance”.

In partnership with East Lothian Arts and the Citizens Advice Bureau, we will be working with up to 270 P5 children in East Lothian primary schools in February-March 2012. Classes will receive a series of 4 drama workshops exploring the practical and emotional consequences of managing and mis-managing money.
TAG Autumn 2011 to Easter 2012
We worked with staff and children at Kelbourne Park Primary school for young people with physical impairment and their neighbouring mainstream school, Parkview Primary. Sessions took place in both schools and the children developed their Drama and Music skills which, in turn, helped to build their confidence and communication skills. Most importantly, the sessions gave them the chance to make new friends.

The National Library of Scotland had an exhibition Beyond Macbeth, Shakespeare in Scottish Collections running from December 2011 to April 2012. The Citizens ran a workshop programme at NLS and aimed at Primary 7s for a week from 12-16 March.
Dragonfly & Language Sandwich was an early years storytelling and story acting project, which focussed on developing children’s listening and language skills and creating confident communicators. It was based on the ground-breaking work of the renowned early years practitioner, Vivian Gussin Paley.

TAG was chosen as one of only 10 arts organisations in Scotland to deliver a Co-Create project using Glow which is the world’s first national intranet for education, developed exclusively for Scotland’s educational community. The main purpose of Glow is to enhance the quality of learning and teaching in the classroom by fully supporting Curriculum for Excellence (CfE).
