15 Minute Shakes-peare

TAG

The Citizens Theatre Society’s annual Glasgow Secondary Schools’ drama competition.

This annual event sees students from eight schools perform no more than 15 minutes of a Shakespearean play, in front of an audience of the Citizens Theatre Society, students, teachers and guests.

Lower secondary classes (1st-3rd year) will compete on Wednesday and upper secondary classes (4th-6th year) on Thursday. A judging panel of professional theatre-makers, will award a Quaich of Words - our specially designed trophy - to winning schools.

Prize-giving occurs at the end of each day.

There is no age limit to attendance, however, we do recommend that it's for people aged 9+.

Hi AM, just realised our response to this never posted. Since the design isn't yet finalsied we can't say for sure, but all indications so far are that it will be reasonably traditional. We doubt there'll be any hoodies and jeans!

Some of the most amazing moments I have ever spent in a theatre were at the Citizens in the 60s and 70s - and some of the best of those were watching David Hayman. Wild horses wouldn't keep me away! Good to see that he doesn't seem to have aged a day - same as me!

Hi Stewart, I'd definitely recommend the Beginners (Level 1) class that commences next Tuesday 17 Jan. You can book a place on this by phoning 0141 429 0022. No prior experience is required and there's no audition process. It's a simple as just booking a place. Is that the info you were after?
