CC Create a Puppet

Staff members in the Learning department have been working on a project with four European partner organisations. The project is called CC - Create a Puppet, Create Yourself and the following organisations are involved:

Teatr Grodzki, based in Bielsko-Biała, Poland

Youth Centre Babilonas, based in Vilnius, Lithuania

CSC DANILO DOLCI, based in Palermo, Italy

KNOW AND CAN ASSOCIATION, based in Sofia, Bulgaria

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project has been funded by Erasmus+ and aims to develop, test and widely disseminate an innovative methodology based on creative approaches in adult education. The creative approach which is being focused on is puppetry and specifically the making of and manipulation of paper puppets.

Each partner organisation has undertaken training in how to create paper puppets and how to work with groups of adults to teach them the process. Staff members have also been trained in how to teach the manipulation of the paper puppets in order to rehearse and create a performance.

PILOT WORKSHOPS

Each organisation has now completed a series of pilot workshops which tested the methodology. The Citizens Theatre worked with:

  • Bridging the Gap
  • Phoenix Futures
  • 218 Women’s Service (part of Turning Point Scotland)
  • Scottish Prison Service - HM Prison Low Moss
  • SCRN (South Community Recovery Network)

METHODOLOGICAL GUIDELINES & ECOMPENDIUMTwo new publications have been created for this project. The METHODOLOGICAL GUIDELINES explores and presents the methodology of the project. The ECOMPENDIUM presents some case studies and examples of how the project methodology was used in practice. Both documents can be downloaded from the eResources page of the CC online platform here.

Angela Smith talks to Creative Scotland about the project.
