The Citizens Theatre has had a long term relationship with Social Work Services and Glasgow Life. The Citizens Learning team, with guest artists have run regular workshops at Inglefield Women’s Homeless Unit. Over the past 3 years the residents have participated in drama, creative writing, film-making, visual art and song-writing and recording.
In partnership with East Lothian Arts and the Citizens Advice Bureau, we will be working with up to 270 P5 children in East Lothian primary schools in February-March 2012. Classes will receive a series of 4 drama workshops exploring the practical and emotional consequences of managing and mis-managing money.
We worked with staff and children at Kelbourne Park Primary school for young people with physical impairment and their neighbouring mainstream school, Parkview Primary. Sessions took place in both schools and the children developed their Drama and Music skills which, in turn, helped to build their confidence and communication skills. Most importantly, the sessions gave them the chance to make new friends.
Dragonfly & Language Sandwich was an early years storytelling and story acting project, which focussed on developing children’s listening and language skills and creating confident communicators. It was based on the ground-breaking work of the renowned early years practitioner, Vivian Gussin Paley.
