Citz Sessions

A weekend of intimate music performances to support the Citizens Theatre’s building redevelopment campaign.

Welcome to the inaugural Citz Sessions!

The Citz Sessions is a series of specially-curated gigs hosted in the magnificent and intimate Victorian auditorium of the Citizens Theatre.

Already confirmed in the line-up is a solo performance from Scott Hutchison, frontman of the legendary Frightened Rabbit, Withered Hand’s, Dan Willson, band of the moment , Jacob Yates and the Pearly Gate Lock Pickers as well as Gaelic songstress Kathleen MacInnes and a range of hot new acts.

Line-ups will be updated as more acts are announced – watch this space!

Guest curators have brought together some of their favourite artists to present an intimate, stripped-back acoustic performance in the iconic surroundings of the theatre.

Friday 14 October curated by Ann Donald of The Shop Assistants
Ann Donald formerly of the indie pop band The Shop Assistants curates an evening celebrating some of the best female musicians working in the independent circuit in Scotland over the years.

Saturday 15 October curated by Vic Galloway
Broadcaster, DJ and - most importantly - major music fan Vic Galloway takes the helm bringing Scottish-bred anthemic indie rock back to Glasgow, the epicentre of the underground and alternative music scene.

Sunday 16 October curated by Kathleen MacInnes
Singing us out with her hauntingly beautiful peat-smoked voice is Gaelic songstress Kathleen MacIness. Performing a piece called ‘Displacement’, Kathleen looks at how Gaels and travellers have congregated in Glasgow, making it a beacon for Gaelic, folk, Scots, trad and Americana.
